surgery, trans, open to advice

So my insurance approved top surgery, I called and texted the surgeon to try to set up an appointment, and they're going to get back to me.

Anybody else who's had top surgery have any advice? This isn't my only resource for information and there are people who are helping me, but it would be good to hear from others.

re: surgery, trans, open to advice I got double incision, so that's echoed in this advice:
Make sure your home is set up so you don't have to lift your arms up or cook for a while.
Button-on comfortable clothes
Wedge pillow to help you sleep on your back
Stool softeners

re: surgery, trans, open to advice I have a hypothesis that touching and rubbing your chest frequently once it's safe to do so helps maintain/restore sensation. Don't know if the hypothesis is true, but I tried that and ended up with fairly complete and complex sensation across my chest.
Recovery is body horror. It doesn't mean you've made a mistake, it's just a horrifying process.
Scar massage once you're cleared for it if you want to reduce how tight the scars are.
